This video is a demo of the basic long-tail cast-on and the basic bind-off. No audio, just the techniques, over and over, very slowly. This is a reminder for my Knitting 101 students who have attended class and have heard the lecture on how these techniques work.

Casting on and removing the provisional cast on
There are a few ways to work a provisional cast on. This one is the only one I use, and I like it because it’s easy to work and fast to remove. It uses waste yarn and a crochet hook to create temporary stitches.
